Recovery Consultant & Coach
Recovery is possible. Change is real.
Maybe it's you. Maybe it's someone you love. Either way — you're not doing this alone anymore.
The Rock
An idea worth sitting with
Somewhere along the way, you built someone.
Not on purpose — or maybe on purpose, at first. A version of you that opened doors. Got you liked, needed, invited, chosen. The life of the party. The fixer. The one who always had it together, or at least looked like it. Whatever it was, it worked. It got you in the room.
And you kept building it. Year after year, you added to it — until it wasn't something you had anymore. It was something you carried.
That's the part nobody tells you. The identity that opens the door is the same one that eventually costs you the room. You don't notice the weight while you're still standing. You notice it when you're not.
By the time it stops working, you've spent so long being that person that you've lost the thread on who you were underneath it. So you hold on tighter. You tell yourself this is just who you are — because it's all you've ever known yourself to be. You carry it through the wreckage. You carry it into rooms that don't need it anymore. You carry it long after it's stopped being useful and started being the reason everything's falling apart.
Here's the truth, matter-of-fact: that person was never you. It was armor. And armor doesn't grow with you — it just gets heavier.
Dropping it isn't losing anything. It's the first honest thing you've done in years.
That's the work. Not becoming someone new — you don't need a rebrand. Just putting down the version of you that was built for survival, so the one that was underneath the whole time finally gets a chance to live.
Who Chad Is
Who this is
Chad Johnson
Chad's been in the room — every kind of room. Years of individual and group therapy. A six-week IOP for trauma and addiction. Peer groups he's sat in, and peer groups he's built and run. He's survived enough to know recovery isn't a straight line, and he's done enough of the work — his own and alongside others — to know what actually moves people forward.
He's not here to hand you a pamphlet. He's here to tell you the truth, with the humor and the bluntness that actually get through.
